Mohammed Ali, a British-born Islamic graffiti artist will be present his work at the Copenhagen UNFAIR fashion event in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Copenhagen UFAIR is an event for creative?s with the basis being difference and nonconformity, with the spotlight being on creative expression of today that inspire the design of tomorrow.

With the controversy surrounding the cartoon based on the Prophet Muhammad, religion and its relationship with the arts, has become an increasing debate throughout Europe.

Denmark, the centre of such controversy, is pleased to invite artist Mohammed Ali, one of the UK's leading graffiti artists, who will offer an insight into his unique style of "urban spiritual art work".

Graffiti often conjures up images of disaffected youth, vandalism and urban decay. Much of that can be seen in the streets throughout western world.

However Mohammed takes graffiti from walls to canvas, using the beauty of Islamic script as his art form. He fuses two very different artistic forms by drawing on his faith and the energy of the streets to create a style that is uniquely western and Islamic. He describes this melange of styles as "the sacred script of God" fused with the "selfish script of man".

Mohammed Ali aims to convey the message, amidst the negative times faced by Denmark?s Muslim population, that art can be used in promoting bridges of understanding and to counter the negative coverage Islam has received.

He has exhibits from the UK to Dubai, with people of all faiths, intrigued by this unique style of art. He has been featured in international media, ranging from the BBC to Al Jazeera, describing him as a ?British Artist spreading a universal message?.

Mohammed Ali has been part of a team of artists from Muslim backgrounds assembled by Arts Council England (ACE) to deliver a groundbreaking "Arts and Islam" seminar to the creative sector. The groundbreaking seminar, part of a wider "Faith and the Arts" strategy by the Arts Council, has toured England and has met with great interest and helped stimulate important debates

Hassan Mahamdallie of Arts Council England will accompany Mohammed Ali to talk about The Arts Council England?s Faith in the Arts work and why the organisation feels it to be a key focus of its work.

Mohammed's work can be seen on his website, www.aerosolarabic.com.
