Historic graffiti wall – Fab 5/Futura 2000

Developer Mike Namer points to a detail on a graffiti wall with drawings by original graffiti subway artists Fab Five Freddy, Futura 2000 and some traces by Jean-Michel Basquiat Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in New York. The large mural, created by some of graffiti’s earliest pioneers, was discovered recently in a 10-story limestone building just as developers were converting it into luxury condominiums. Henry Chalfant Vs. Mohammed Ali (NOT the boxer)
Head to head…. Picture taken a few months ago when Henry Chalfont (photographer resposible for the cult book “Subway Art”) came to Birmingham. Henry is either engrossed in thought as I speak to him wildy, or he thinks who is this crazy fool! Either way, i love this picture. This is the true legend/godfather of graffiti art, speaking to me – the monster he has created!
Without Henry Chalfants book, there would no such thing as graffiti-art as we know it, throughout the world, and those train journeys would be less bearable without all that colour….
